In a remarkable show of unity and dedication to the well-being of children and youth, SK Brann and Meteva Sport og Helse AS successfully launched the NextGen Neighbor Network (NNN) with the pilot project Miljoplakaten Tertnes. A well-attended event at Tertnes Clubhouse on Wednesday, April 2nd. The initiative aims to create safer, healthier communities by promoting the Miljoplakaten framework and expanding its influence throughout the Bergen region.
A Strong Community Turnout
Parents, teachers, head principals, coaches, local leaders, and members of the community gathered for two engaging sessions, eager to learn how schools, sports clubs, parents, volunteers and cultural organizations can collaborate to foster safe and supportive environments for young people. The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm and commitment, as attendees actively participated in discussions on how to promote positive behavior and prevent snitching, bullying, violence, drugs and crime.
The event also featured Helena Navarsete, the newly appointed Miljøarbeider, who shared her vision for strengthening ties between sports, schools, and local communities.
“Our goal is to build stronger, more connected support networks where children and youth feel safe and valued—both on and off the field,” said Navarsete. “By working together across sectors, we can make a real difference in the lives of young people.”
Inspiring Role Models and Ambassadors
A highlight of the evening was the presence of influential role models, including leaders, athletes and coaches from SK Brann, Åsane Arena, Gneist and Fyllingen Lions, who represented the importance of mentorship, integrity, and positive leadership. Their commitment to collaborate and engage collectively for the youth, resonated deeply with the attendees, reinforcing the initiative’s mission.
“Sportsklubben Brann har inngått en intensjonsavtale med Meteva Sport og Helse AS for å bedre oppvekstmiljøet i Bergen. Vi ønsker at kraften i fotballen skal bidra til å forsterke det viktige budskapet. Vi må stå samlet for at alle barn og unge i Bergen skal ha et godt oppvekstmiljø, på tvers av ulike idretter”
Therese Andvik Rygg, Leder marked, kommunikasjon og bærekraft Sportsklubben Brann.
Their commitment to being actively involved as mentors and positive role models left a lasting impact on attendees, expressing the influence sports figures can have in promoting community values.
Building a Safer Tomorrow
The NextGen Neighbor Network is now officially underway, with a clear focus on promoting trust, collaboration, and accountability. By uniting schools, sports clubs, and responsible adults, NNN aims to prevent negative behaviors and create a safer Bergen for future generations.
“We are incredibly proud of the community’s response,” said Louise Mohn, Founder of Meteva Sport og Helse. “Seeing so many people come together with a shared commitment to protecting and empowering youth is truly inspiring. This is only the beginning of a long-term effort to build a safer, more compassionate community.”
The partnership between SK Brann and Meteva Sport og Helse AS is expected to drive significant awareness and support for NNN, reaching more families, youth, and organizations throughout the region.
Coming Up Next
As the initiative moves forward, Sportsklubben Brann and Meteva Sport og Helse AS will continue to support the expansion of other NextGen Neighbor Network initiatives. They have a deep commitment to supporting the Miljoplakaten framework throughout Bergen.
